This week I spent time in a call where we dis-cussed the idea of paradox which is that “Paradoxes embrace ambiguity, expose our intolerance for uncertainty, push our boundaries, and, if we hang on long enough, often force us to deny the comfort of our ideology for a deeper wisdom that is a more honest reflection of the human experience and the human spirit” (Brene Brown “Strong Ground”).

On January 17th & 18th we hosted the official 100 year celebration of our congregation! People traveled from near and far to celebrate the path that we’ve taken to get where we’re at and to encourage us into the future to follow God’s amazing call.

We did it! When we started this project, the experts told us that we could raise more than $100,000, and we knew that we wanted this to be a challenge that was going to take effort and work, but still be achievable. So the planning team settled on $202,600, and you know what…

We ’re spending this time before Lent talking about accidental saints, those people where we find God and they don’t exactly “fit the bill” for those we should find God in. Which, I think is actually the majority of us. When we talk about saints, we often think of individuals who have had their sainthood declared, but the fact is, ordinary people can and will do extraordinary things. Christian Women’s Fellowship Christmas Gathering Ladies from all three groups gathered at Paris West on December 13, 2025, for fellowship, joining in the Christmas spirit and giving back to the community. The ladies enjoyed various meals from the Paris West menu while spreading the Christmas spirit within the gathering, which was reflected in the collection of toys, blankets, and cat litter for the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. Three and a half years seems like such a long time. And yet, with only a few days left to our campaign, it feels like it flew by. A few days left to share the word about what we’re doing, about how much we’ve raised already and how much good we plan to do with it. This campaign began entirely to honor our 100th birthday as First Christian Church in Cheyenne, 100 years of doing God’s work in our home, a way to take the past into the present and keep it moving for the future.

On December 14th, the kids led our second Christingle service! Congregants came early to build their Christingles to share them throughout the worship service with the kids. See the photos!

It’s a fresh new year (almost!), and it’s so close to the 100th Birthday of our congregation! Which is so exciting.

The year 2023 marked a period of steadfast service for First Christian Church. Under Pastor Aerii's continued leadership, the congregation maintained its commitment to the goals established in previous years while looking ahead to the rapidly approaching centennial celebration in January 2026.

Wow has it been a wild ride. 3 years ago, we started with a crazy idea to celebrate our 100th anniversary with a campaign to help homeless teen moms. I know many of us, me included, wondered how we were going to do it, but I had faith we would figure it out because that is what FCC Cheyenne does.

I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly ready for a break. I’m not sure where October went, and now we’re nearly halfway through November as I write this, and I’m not sure where November went either.

On October 13th, we hosted our first Faith & Blue event. This event is put on by the community and hosted at a church. It’s designed to connect Law Enforcement Officers and Agencies to the community through fun activities.

It is hard to believe that we have homeless children in our Laramie County Schools! Their needs are great as the educators attempt to help them build a strong foundation for their futures!

OpporTUNAty Knocks With 3 months left, FCC has reached ~70% of its 2025 goal to collect 2520 cans of tuna for NEEDS, Inc. Thanks to all who have brought in tuna year-round! Our donations are important because, as of September 1st, NEEDS had already served 10,737 individuals compared with 8,982 in all of 2024. FCC is making a difference in Cheyenne!
