Call to Leadership for All

I ’ve been teaching the youth group kids all about incarnation and what it means to be an anointed one, just like Jesus is. We dove deep into what it means to be a leader and the qualities and skills that we want to have in good leaders. It led to some really interesting conversations!

But we’re also in that season as a congregation too. Every year, at the end of the year, we work to build our slate of officers or leadership for the upcoming year. Some roles won’t change, and some roles will change.

Sometimes we’re asked to participate in the leadership of the church in a new way and it’s just flat out scary. Because we don’t always know what to expect, we don’t understand the ins and outs of what all of that role contains, and we’re not sure if our skills will be a good fit for that.

But all of us have leadership skills of some sort, and those skills that we don’t have are ones we can develop with learning and effort.

God equips the called. We are called, often times, well before we have the skills to do the job we’re called to do. As the time for nominations for our leader-ship roster are in front of us, I invite you to pray about your skills and where you think you might best be able to serve in our congregation and best able to serve God.
