Outreach’s Summer Focus

This summer, the Outreach Team is focusing support on Cheyenne’s Welcome Mat, which is a day center for people experiencing homelessness. The Welcome Mat is under new management and has recently been revitalized, as well as taking on a new name— Day Center-Cheyenne. 

We will be holding several monthly collection drives to help staff support those in need who use the center, and we hope all members will join with us as they are able. 

The items most needed include: sunscreen, bug spray, chapstick, aloe and body lotion, sunglasses, water bottles, Slime brand bike tire tubs (20-26 inch), bike tire sealant, hand sanitizer, soap, and belts. Please keep these items on your radar and be watching for more information about our collection drives during the summer months. 

We already know our members are generous to our community, and our Tuna…And collection numbers continue to prove it! April’s collection numbers included 184 cans of tuna, 8 boxes of cereal, 8 jars of jelly, 9 jars of peanut butter, and 15 miscellaneous items. That brings April’s total to 224 items. Thank you, Members, and keep up the great work! 

Finally, a few reminders: We are still looking for a couple of substitutes to serve as needed on our COMEA meal prep and serve teams. Let us know if you can be available occasionally to help out! If you want to help serve a meal for the Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build on June 25, contact Michele. There will be 120 hungry builders, and more food servers can always be put to work!
