Outreach Highlights & Focus - May 2026

Hammers and Hammies (sandwiches, that is) 

Habitat for Humanity home building is blazing in Cheyenne, and FCC is in the thick of it! Thanks to everyone who helped with our church’s build day on April 25. If you missed out on this great event, there are two more opportunities to help get our Cheyenne neighbors in need into a safe, secure, and healthy home of their own. 

These next two opportunities are less about swinging a hammer and more about slinging hash. We will be providing meals for other building teams in May and June. We will feed 50 Wyoming National Guard members on Monday, May 18. In June, Highlands Presbyterian Church and FCC will cook for 120 hungry house builders. If you are interested in helping with these two community-building and house-building opportunities, reach out to Michele. 

Did you know? 

Did you know FCC donates $1,500 worth of gas cards every quarter to help our neighbors in need who might need a hand up after falling on hard times? The Outreach Team distributes these cards to USI, Laramie County School District 1, Safehouse, and COMEA. The cards are valued at either $15 or $30. The lion’s share of the cards goes to COMEA for their residents. 

Tuna…And! 

Keep up the good work, bringing in tuna, peanut butter, jelly, and breakfast cereal for our friends at NEEDS! Thanks to your generosity, we collected 163 cans of tuna, 5 boxes of cereal, 7 jars of jelly, 10 jars of peanut butter, and 4 miscellaneous items in the month of April. That’s a total of 189 items. Let’s see if we can beat that this May! 

COMEA Substitute servers 

And speaking of COMEA, we need your help! If you aren’t able to commit to being a full-time member of one of our COMEA meal teams, we can still use your help! We are looking for substitutes to step in (usually on short notice) to help serve a meal on the first Thursday of the month at the COMEA Shelter. It is easy, it’s lots of fun, the staff and residents are great to work with, and it is a wonderful way to share God’s love with people who really need to feel that love. Contact Rita Coonts.
