March 2026 - Outreach Team Focus & Updates

Jesus tells us in Matt. 22:37,

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Here at First Christian Church of Cheyenne, your Outreach Committee is always looking for ways to love our neighbors, both here in Cheyenne and around the world, and our members make that possible! Here are a few ways you can join in.

Top to Bottom

You’ve heard of Undie Sunday, when we collected undergarments for our homeless neighbors. Now get ready for the new and expanded “Loving Our Neighbors from Top to Bottom.” We are collecting a variety of items throughout Lent that will be donated on May 8th during the Cheyenne Day of Giving. You can place your donations in the bins at the altar. We started Feb. 22 with our traditional underwear collection. If you missed out on that, you can join in on socks (March 1), diapers for kids and adults (March 8), bras and undershirts (March 15), personal grooming/feminine hygiene products (March 22), and belts and suspenders (March 29).

Tuna….And!

Thank you to everyone who has been donating to our Tuna….And! collection for NEEDS. Remember that this year we have added a couple of items to the things we are collecting for NEEDS. In addition to tuna, we are also collecting peanut butter, jelly, and breakfast cereal. In January, we collected 100 cans of tuna, 6 cereals, 4 jellies, and 4 jars of peanut butter for a total of 114 items. That's a great start toward our 2026 goal of 2,400 items. Thank you to Wink and Pat for graciously counting and dropping off those items each month for us! Keep up the good work, everyone!

COMEA Meals

Every month, members of our church work together to cook and serve a meal for the COMEA Shelter. COMEA has recently asked us to increase the amount of meat we are providing because they are seeing a greater need in our community. If you are interested in joining one of our COMEA teams, please reach out to Rita Coonts.

Family Promise Meals

Family Promise is a Cheyenne organization that provides a house for families who are experiencing homelessness. FCC members volunteer to take meals to the house on a rotating schedule. If you would like to sign up to take a meal to the family, see the sign-up sheet on the volunteer board in the fellowship hall or talk to Michelle McGuirl, who is our Family Promise coordinator.

Outreach Committee

Finally, if you would like to join the outreach committee or if you simply know of a need in our community that FCC can help address, please visit with Michelle McGuirl.
