Love Thy Neighbor

Opportunities to love your neighbor abound at First Christian Church of Cheyenne.

Blanket Sunday

Blanket Sunday is coming up soon, and we will have the opportunity to blanket the world with God’s love. On May 10th and 17th, we will be collecting special donations for blankets. The donations we collect on those days will be sent to Church World Services (cwsglobal.org/). CWS uses those funds to offer blankets to those in need around the world. They may go to someone who is shivering on a park bench on a snowy night, or they may go to comfort the victim of a natural disaster or someone caught up in the terror of war. Not only do these blankets provide warmth, but they also show the recipient that someone cares and that God is watching out for them.

Each blanket costs $10, but additional giving can provide more to families in crisis. If you give $25, it can provide a CWS Blanket and a CWS Hygiene Kit, offering warmth and essential supplies. The $60 Family Bundle provides blankets and hygiene kits for an entire family, ensuring that they have what they need during challenging times. Please consider making a donation to our Blanket Sunday offering on either May 10th or 17th.

Habitat for Humanity

If you build it, they will come! At least that is what we are hoping for on our Habitat for Humanity build day on Saturday, April 25. We need volunteers who are 16 and older to help build a Habitat home for one of our Cheyenne neighbors in need. If you don’t want to swing a hammer or you aren’t old enough to work on the job site, there are still opportunities to help. We will also be providing a meal to volunteers that day, so we need people to help assemble lunches and serve. On Monday, May 18, FCC is providing a meal for 50 Wyoming National Guard members who will be hosting a Habitat build day of their own. Finally, in June, we will be joining with Highlands Presbyterian Church to provide one more meal for about 120 people. Contact Michele to find out more about volunteering on any of those days.

Tuna…And! for Needs

Please continue bringing in your tuna, peanut butter, jelly, and breakfast cereal for our monthly NEEDS donation. Pat and Wink report that as of the end of February, FCC had donated 224 of these items to NEEDS. Keep up the great work, everyone!
