Dear Beloved Congregation,
I write to you today with a heart full of hope and a spirit driven by compassion. As we celebrate our church's 100th anniversary, we have been given a remarkable opportunity to make a lasting impact on our community. Our partnership with Unaccompanied Students Initiative (U.S.I.) to raise $202,600 by January 2026 is more than just a fundraising campaign – it's a chance to change lives.
As someone who grew up in the foster care system, I can personally attest to the profound difference that organizations like U.S.I. make in the lives of vulnerable youth. The stability, support, and guidance they provide are invaluable. Now, we have the chance to extend that lifeline even further, to some of the most vulnerable members of our community: homeless teen mothers and their babies.
Imagine, for a moment, being 16 years old, pregnant or with a newborn, and having nowhere to call home. This is the reality for an average of three young women in our school district at any given time. Without support, these young mothers face nearly insurmountable odds. But with our help, U.S.I. can build a second home to house four teen mothers and their babies, providing them with shelter, stability, and a chance at a brighter future.
This project isn't just about putting a roof over their heads. It's about empowering these young women to continue their education while caring for their children. It's about breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness. It's about showing these young families that their community believes in them and is willing to invest in their future.
By supporting teen mothers in finishing their education, we're not just helping them – we're setting up two generations for success. We're giving these young women the tools they need to support themselves and their children, potentially changing the trajectory of their entire family for generations to come.
As Christians, we are called to be the hands and feet of Christ in this world. This project is a tangible way for us to live out that calling. We have the opportunity to be the family these young women need when they have no one else to turn to.
I urge you to prayerfully consider how you can contribute to this vital cause. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to making this dream a reality. Together, we can be the change we wish to see in our community.
Remember our campaign slogan: U & I 4 U.S.I. We are indeed all in this together. Let's join hands and hearts to make a lasting difference in the lives of these young mothers and their children.
If you feel called to be more involved or would like updates on the campaign, please don't hesitate to contact the church office. Your support, whether through donations, time, or prayers, is deeply appreciated and vital to the success of this mission.
Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your commitment to serving our community. Together, we can create a brighter future for these young families and honor our church's legacy of love and service.
With heartfelt gratitude and hope,
Susann Robbins
P.S. "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me" (Mark 9:37). Let's welcome these young mothers and their children with open arms and open hearts.
