One of the best parts of ministry, in my opinion, is being able to work and lead alongside a diverse and wonderful group of people. And leadership, as we know from Ephesians 4:11-13 that there are many different gifts and strengths. Those strengths work together to be the body of Christ.
Our congregation is seeking leaders. Let’s face it, we’re always seeking leaders. But as our nominating committee gears up for our 2025 leadership roster, they are asking a lot of good and hard questions.
Who has the gifts to lead in these particular areas?
There are a lot of open positions for the 2025 year.
Elders:
These are the spiritual leaders in the church. People called to this type of ministry help guide our vision, our care of each other, and help to lead our worship services. They are, in a lot of ways, the heartbeat of the congregation, and they have their fingers on the pulse of the church. (This is a three year term.)
Deacons:
These people are gifted with getting things done. Deacons help support elders and pay close attention to specific needs in the church. They also work closely with membership and evangelism to welcome guests and new members to the congregation. (This is a three year term.)
Trustee:
Trustees care for the long term financial planning of the congregation. They also are in charge of contracts and legal business of the church. (This is a six year term.)
Treasurer/Finance Chair:
This person works closely with our bookkeeper to get bills paid, keep track of our budget. Once a year, they work with a team to create a budget for the upcoming year. (This is a two year term.)
Outreach Chair:
This person works with the outreach team to plan and facilitate the community ministries we have going and to create opportunities for new ministries to happen. (This is a one year term.)
Property Chair:
This person helps to maintain our building and property, making sure when things break, they get fixed, and making sure preventative maintenance gets done. This person doesn’t need to be a “Fix-it” person, but does need to be able to manage contractors and projects to facilitate the work. (This is a one year term.)
Stewardship:
This person works closely with the Pastor in planning the annual pledge drive and helping to keep stewardship in the minds of the congregation throughout the rest of the year. Stewardship is more than just money! (This is a one year term.)
If you feel called to join and help any of our leadership teams, please contact Judy Osborn, who is chair of the nominating committee. First I ask that you pray about how you might make a difference in our church community and where you might be interested in exploring your gifts to this congregation.
Church like we have only works when we all work together for the ministry and mission of God.
So let’s get to work.
