Chili Cook-Off Celebrated

Another great evening of sharing, fellowship, laughter, and good food happened once again at the Chili Cook Off on National Chili Day at First Christian Church.

First of all, a great big “Thank You” to LuAnn Chaffin and Ruby Zubrod for chairing this most successful event sponsored by the Christian Women’s Fellowship.

With nine pots of delicious chili to be judged and eaten, the judges surely had a rough time coming up with the winners. Those judges who need to be thanked for the enjoyable yet hard job were Stephanie McMillan, Todd Sampson, Nathan Smith, Parker Smith, and Melissa Tow-ers. The winners were: 1st place – Judy Osborn, 2nd place – Rita Coonts, and 3rd place – Terry Barbre.

The trivia game, as well as helping everyone test their knowledge, review and learn more about First Christian Church’s history, was a special and fun sharing time for the attendees.

The auction of baked goods raised $945.00 that will be used to help the youth group of the church to grow. Aa-ron Barbre is thanked for being a terrific auctioneer who was instrumental in encouraging the competitive bidders to raise that terrific amount for our youth.

Thanks also go to all the cooks and bakers who prepared the nine pots of chili, the pot of soup, and the auction items. Additional thanks to the setup and teardown crew, those Christian Women’s Fellowship group members who contributed necessary items to enhance the chili experience.

Last and not least is a thank you to everyone who attended and helped to make the evening a success!
