Building Dreams, Transforming Lives

Our church will celebrate it's 100th birthday on January 3, 2026. After much discussion and many prayers, a leadership team determined that we need to give back to the community - a birthday present TO Cheyenne and Laramie County, rather than giving a birthday present to ourselves.

Our church has helped support the Unaccompanied Students Initiative, U.S.I., (housing of homeless teens ages 16-20) through our Outreach Program for several years. It was found that there are an average of three homeless teenage moms in Laramie County School District 1 each year. U.S.I. already owns property and a house that can accommodate up to 10 homeless students. However, teenage moms and babies cannot be housed in the same house.

This campaign, Building Dreams - Transforming Lives, is aimed at raising $202,600 to help build a home that will house up to four homeless teen moms. This house will provide stability and safety for these young women so they can finish their education and still care for their babies.

Information in the form of bookmarks, prayer covenants, brochures and pledge cards have been produced and distributed via the mail, worship services and at church group meetings. A list of potential donors such as community businesses, foundations, grants, has also been created but we encourage you to contact friends and businesses you already have a relationship with and talk about this campaign.

Pledges can be set up weekly, monthly, yearly, or whatever best suits each individual circumstance. In-kind services are also encouraged. Any commitment is an "intention to give" only. The amount of a gift may be changed at any time by contacting the church office.

You are invited to pray for this campaign, that God will be glorified and that the Cheyenne community will become more aware of this ministry.

If you have questions, please feel free to contact any of the Core Team members: Jane Lessenger, Chairman; Merle Bailey, Prayer; Rick Gano, Key Donors; Community Events, Ruth Reynolds; Follow-up/Finance, Linda Chasson and Rita Basom. Ex-officio: Pastor Aerii Smith.

Each future Bell will include information on the progress of the fundraiser, funds received, donors committed.
